Armistice-
A temporary suspension of hostilities by agreement of the warring.
The final Allied push towards the German border began on October 17, 1918. As the British, French and American armies advanced, the alliance between the central powers began to collapse. Turkey signed an armistice at the end of October, Austria-Hungary followed on November 3rd. Germany began to crumble from within.
Treaty of Versailles-
The Treaty of Versailles, presented for German leaders to sign
on May 7, 1919, forced Germany to concede territories to Belgium The Germans returned Alsace and Lorraine, annexed in 1871 after the
Franco-Prussian War, to France. All German overseas colonies became League of
Nation Mandates, and the city of Danzig.
